Karl Bissinger Documentary in the Works

I found a three-minute trailer for a documentary on Karl Bissinger, the legendary photographer and peace activist, which is in the works. The documentary will be called "The Luminous Years: Karl Bissinger and the New Bohemians."

The title "The Luminous Years" is based on Bissinger's photobook, which came out in 2003, which showed these amazing photos of writers and actors like Gore Vidal, Tennessee Williams and Montgomery Clift, from the 1940s and 1950s.

The term "The New Bohemians" came from a photo spread that Karl did for a fashion magazine.

I had the honor of interviewing Karl in 2005. He was hale and very appealing at 92. Soon after, a series of strokes robbed him of his memory. He died in 2007.

Edward Field on the Sexual Anthropologist Tobias Schneebaum

Edward Field now

The poet Edward Field discusses his close personal friend, the late writer and sexual anthropologist Tobias Schneebaum. Tobias achieved fame and infamy for living with a cannibal tribe in Peru in the mid-1950's. This story was chronicled in his memoir, "Keep the River on Your Right." Edward Field spoke with Dylan Foley on January, 11, 2013, at his apartment in Greenwich Village.
